Objectives: As an international English speaking university based in Italy, Link Campus University is delighted to be able to offer language lessons in either Italian or English. All language levels are welcome, from complete beginners to those wishing to improve their language skills. After an initial level test and brief discussion with a tutor, students are assigned to their appropriate group. The number of students is limited to a maximum of 14 to ensure that each student gains the most from the course. All language classes are taught by experienced mother-tongue teachers who are friendly and happy to share their knowledge of the city to ensure you make the most of your time in Rome.

Programme: The programme encourages students to meet and make new friends, experience cultural activities together and practise language skills in real-life situations.
Language lessons are held in the morning to allow those students who wish to explore the city of Rome the opportunity to take full advantage of the remainder of the day. For those who wish to further their knowledge of Italian culture the following modules are available in the afternoon at the university.

Optional Afternoon Seminars on Italian Culture: The following are a sample of the cultural seminars on offer in 2009:

  • History, Culture, Traditions and the Italian way of life, past and present
  • Italian Cinema
  • Italian Cuisine & Wine
  • The History of Ancient Rome
  • Italian Art History and Architecture
  • Italian Fashion and Design

Optional Cultural Excursions: There is so much to discover during the Roman Summer or ‘Roma Estate’ as it’s known! Our friendly staff and teachers will ensure that you are kept informed of all the exciting events which take place over the summer period. The University organises various excursions to discover Rome so you will be able to immerse yourself in the culture and practice the newly acquired language skills.  Typical events include weekend day trips, evening outings to the cinema, riverboats on the Tiber and bus tours to familiarise yourself with the city. Every week the University publishes a calendar of cultural activities and suggestions so that visitors are informed about exhibitions, concerts, films and other events that take place over the summer months.

Method: Our Teaching method takes full account of modern didactics and the demands of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. You’ll learn the foreign language as you learnt your native language – through practice and continuous communication. We have developed an open, flexible and interactive method of teaching, drawing on our years of experience, our understanding of the cognitive process of language learning, and our continual reflection on the desires and interests of our students. Our classrooms are lively, interactive spaces providing the ideal elements for you to quickly attain your language goals. To do this we mix a variety of tasks and activities: communicative and interactive, grammatical and cultural.  Our teaching staff are experienced language teachers, all of whom studied at University and who have been specially trained in teaching languages to foreigners. But learning a language isn’t just about grammar and vocabulary. We want to allow our students to gain insight into the Italian way of living and thinking. That is why we offer, in addition to the language courses, a whole range of extracurricular activities to introduce our students to Italian culture.
